I was excited to see the really tall flower in the front quarter circle bed nearly ready to bloom. The bud is just about to burst open. And one of the asparagus has come up! I was beginning to be afraid they might not have survived the planting. On the side of the house there is a really beautiful pair of Japanese Boxwood in bloom.

First Narcissus
Front Garden – Asparagus Bed
Building a Better Garden, Part 7
All the work to build the garden bed is finally finished, and now I can start to grow plants! I planted from seeds last weekend: Brussel Sprouts, Bok Choi, Bell Pepper, Spinach, Beets, Carrots, Radishes, and Green Beans. For the vertical vines, I planted cantaloupe, cucumber, squash, and zucchini. Yesterday, I put in some sets of cherry and patio tomatoes, a jalapeno, an eggplant, and a poblano. Now, we just wait to eat!! This morning, there were sprouts! I’m so excited, even though I don’t quite remember whether they are the radishes, beets, or carrots.
Building a Better Garden, Part 6
Bulbs, bulbs, bulbs!

Late last fall, I planted a few hundred bulbs around the yard – crocus, hyacinth, tulips, and a few other kinds I can’t recall. I’m excited to finally see them coming up, and to finally remember what they are! There is a little quarter circle in my front walkway I stuffed full of the broadest mixture of bulbs. A week ago, they were really putting on a show, but now, they are bursting out with an incredible amount of new growth!
